Cy-Solved™ solutions are built upon the eCOG® microcontroller families which are designed by the ASIC Design Team at Cyan's headquarters in Cambridge.

This team consist of a group of highly experienced mixed signal designers and silicon architects with over 30 man years of leading edge experience. Within the group there is a several innovative CPU designers who have, by cooperating closely with the software team, provided highly optimised cpu cores to meet the needs of modern Microcontroller and rapid development market. The resulting family of mpu devices provides a large number of fully functioned asynchronous peripherals tightly coupled with a high speed cpu core. This achieved without compromising the performance of the analogue components on the device. The team continue to explore innovative and pioneering techniques in the CPU, caching and memory management fields to provide Cyan with leading edge performance for their MPU products.

Three device families are available:

eCOG1X - 16 bit, high functionality microcontrollers including USB and Ethernet on chip
eCOG1XE - 16 bit, entry level

eCOG1k - 16 bit, low power microcontroller

A key attribute of eCOG devices is that they are all equipped with a large number of on-chip peripherals. This enables the designer to absorb a great deal of functionality from the board into the microcontroller, saving on bill of materials and complexity, so reducing cost. As there are many more peripherals than can be used at any one time, the graphically based CyanIDE® tool is used to configure the required blocks to the pins of the device.
