Cyan and Radiocrafts demonstrate Gateway solution for Wireless M-Bus at Metering, Billing/CRM Europe 2008

New USB/Ethernet Gateway that enables next generation household Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) is launched at Amsterdam event

Cambridge-based fabless semiconductor company Cyan has partnered with Radiocrafts, a leading RF module provider, to offer a complete Gateway solution for Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) based on the Wireless M-Bus standard. The innovative solution will be demonstrated at the world-renowned Metering, Billing/CRM Europe show on 22nd-24th of this month.

The joint presentation will reveal how Cyan's Gateway has been combined with Radiocrafts' Wireless M-Bus nodes to create a ready-to-go network and will illustrate how information is collected from meters and displayed on an embedded web server.

Cyan and Radiocrafts developed this solution in response to the new European Wireless M-Bus standard (EN 13757-4:2005) which has led to a high demand for new products within the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) market. Some of the Gateway's key features include: 512 kB flash, USB 2.0 OTG and 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, all of which are standard on the eCOG1X14Z5 microcontroller.

Kenn Lamb, CEO of Cyan commented, "Our Gateway solution is engineered to work smoothly in conjunction with the world’s first all-embedded Wireless M-Bus module by Radiocrafts. The Metering Europe event is our first opportunity to showcase to the wider metering community. "Cyan and Radiocrafts have developed the first complete Wireless M-Bus node and gateway package and incorporated new features such as our embedded web servers."

Peder Martin Evjen, Managing Director at Radiocrafts added, "This partnership allows Smart Metering gateway and meter manufacturers, system integrators and AMI providers to implement a complete wireless metering solution, while significantly reducing time-to-market in addition to cutting development and compliance testing costs. Radiocrafts is the leading Wireless M-Bus module provider, and together with Cyan we now offer a unique Wireless M-Bus Ethernet Gateway technology platform to the very competitive and constantly evolving Smart Metering market. Our expertise in this field will be demonstrated in Amsterdam this month."
