Applications Engineering

The Applications Group plays an important role within Engineering at Cyan, providing a wide range of skills and experience in embedded systems design both to our customers and to our chip design and software tools development teams.

The group covers a broad range of applications with a focus on the use of microcontrollers in embedded systems.

  • Development of applications for key market sectors.
  • Generation of new applications based on market information and in response to customer requirements.
  • Development of reference designs and application notes for publication via the web site.
  • High level technical support for current and future devices, working with the Field Applications group.
  • Specification and testing of new devices and development software tools.
  • Engineering support for key customer development projects.

Currently we have the following vacancies in the Applications Group. The job descriptions below give an idea of the scope of the work and the skills required.

Embedded Systems Engineer

An embedded software engineer with a wide range of skills, significant experience in embedded systems including hardware, and an understanding of embedded operating systems, communications protocols, and distributed or wireless systems.

  • Required Experience
    • Programming embedded systems for real-time applications in C and assembly language.
    • Real-time software, hardware/software integration, low-level device drivers.
    • RTOS/embedded operating systems.
    • Microprocessor-based embedded systems, processor architectures and peripherals.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desirable Experience
    • Knowledge of TCP/IP or other communications protocol stacks.
    • Distributed or wireless systems.
    • UART/SPI/I2C/USB/Ethernet.
    • Programming in C or C++ under Windows.
    • Schematic capture.
    • Interfacing to external digital and analogue devices.
